Zuni Caroline Waikaniwa Needlepoint Petit Point Turquoise Pin 1960s+ For Sale

The delicacy of this snowflake pin is compelling. It is made with very fine petit point work and tiny raindrops, so they are quite layered and dimensional, exceptionally beautiful. This is one of the artist\'s later snowflake styles. The openwork and geometrical patterns in this complex design is fascinating. One of the gorgeous aspects is that the turquoise has greened with age leaving a beautiful pale green coloration that is quite rich. The tiny pieces of natural turquoise are hand cut and buffed and set in tiny serrated bezel settings. The locking pin mechanism is fine and the condition is excellent vintage.

Caroline Waikaniwa was born December 14, 1926 and died on September 20, 2008 at the age of 81. Her work was fabulous, as you can see by this example. The pin is over 1\" in diameter and the condition. It will work with all your needlepoint pieces. The color is so lovely you will want to wear it with everything. Her designs have a simple elegance though they are quite complex and always suitable.
