Woodsounds Contra Bass E-3 Flute in Cocobolo Wood- Very Rare:
$1795.00

Attention intermediate-advanced players, collectors, and Native American flute enthusiasts! Up for sale is a very rare Woodsounds/Brent Haines Contra Bass E-3 custom flute. This flute is one year old (original owner), is in very good condition, played sparingly (by a non-smoker), and is totally gorgeous! It has been set up for a right-handed player (left hand up, right hand down), with the bottom hole of 3rd finger of each hand offset (articulated) for easier playing. The transfer tube is mounted to the flute\'s right side. It is in the key of E minor and the tuning is in 432 Hz.The main flute body is made from Cocobolo wood (with no sap wood), with the trim woods in Nigerian Ebony, and Box Elder Burl (purple enhanced). Trim details.... Nigerian Ebony trim- front cap, end cap, mouth piece/part of transfer tube (also with Cocobolo), shoulders, and bottom half of the two totems. Box Elder Burl (purple enhanced)- 1/4\" rings close to front cap and end cap, and top half of both totems. To complete the trim, there are 3/16\" and 1/8\" rings of solid turquoise just inside of the front and end caps (with the two Box Elder Burl rings between them). One of the totems (pictured) is beautifully complimented with solid turquoise. There is a 1/8\" center ring of Abalone. As well, Abalone compliments the flutes shoulders along with the Ebony. The second totem (not pictured) is a flat totem like the one shown; however, instead of a turquoise trim, it contains a built-in magnet! (you can attach any kind of small, magnetic, metal objects to it if you like!). Brent truly has an amazing, creative way with his designs! Brent needed over one month to meticulously build this flute! The sound of the Cocobolo of this flute is truly incredible! Its very deep, meditative voice is hard to describe in words. Why not give a listen, as the flute\'s original listing offers two recorded tracks on the Woodsounds website (flute # J12L). Not only is this Contra Bass E-3 a world class instrument technically and artistically, it\'s also a very rare flute. Since 2009, Brent has only made 8 Contra Bass E flutes. Comparably, in the same time frame, he\'s made 26 Bass G flutes and 74 Bass A flutes! This flute cost $2,500 to build, and that was with a 10% discount. Brent has informed me that, due to the intensive time involved with building this kind of instrument, that he wouldn\'t be able to build another like this for less than $2,800! It is an amazing combination of technical and artistic aspects, as are all Woodsounds flutes!More specs information (all very close and approximate).... weight 2 1/2 pounds, length- 47 1/2\", width- 2\" (where it\'s round), width at mouth piece- 5 1/4\", distance from mouth piece to 1st hole- 10\", & distance from mouth piece to last hole- 21\". Also, Brent built a removable drain plug into the front cap, which features 3 o-rings for a tight seal. This feature was not done on previous Contra Bass flutes, and really helps when draining moisture from it after playing. The drain plug is made of Ebony and Cocobolo. I just recently had Brent add more relief holes toward the end of the flute (not shown in photos). This allows the flute to be played while resting the bottom on the floor! (a much more comfortable playing position). The shipping and handling charges includes fairly expensive insurance via UPS.If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me about anything. Thank you for checking out this magnificent instrument! Have a great day and good luck offerding!
