Interesting very old bat from early days of baseball, collector bat with definitely aged look. Some genuineusewear, nicks anda darkened aged patina, minor checks in the wood, a chip from bottom knob at end of bat, all to say this is just enough to add character and give this item some real historical appreciation. As it is stillquite sound, and of heavy hard hickory,a great decorative item conversation piece as well as a last ditch home defense backup implement, but this really isof much more value as acollectible display item for diehard baseball fans. Not sure of actual manufacture date but it\'s old,confirmed also bythe fact it is of heavy hickory. if you love baseball, to hold this old trainer bat will make you smile. Diameter at handle is 1 inch. Total length is 33-1/2 inches, maximum diameter is 2 inches, so it feels just right inthe hands. Babe Ruth used hickory but white ash took over and hickory ceased to be in use for baseball batsin the years to follow.
