“S Bar “Single Brown Leather Holster with Cut-Outs, flocked Back and Oval Silver Buckle
Manufacturer Unknown. Circa 1950s. Made in USA. Leather with metal buckle. Belt measures approx. 33 inches long. Pocket is approx. 8 inches deep.
This unusual holster appears to have originally been a double holster set. The left holster is intact but the right holster is missing (2 rivet holes are visible in the right side of the belt). The pocket and belt have almost “S” shaped cut outs with white inside. The edges of the belt and half of the holster edge have square cut-outs. The back of both holster and belt are covered with white flocking which is still in good shape. The buckle is an oval silver type with poppy/floral design. The buckle has some light surface rust on one side and the back but no pitting. The leather of both holster and belt is in good condition and still flexible. It has a few scuffs but no cracks or stains and the stitching is all intact with no fraying or breaks. A few rivets have light surface rust spots but no pitting. There are 6 leather bullet loops on the belt and they are in good shape. Six 1-1/2” long plastic bullets were in the loops when this holster was found.. They may not be original but are included.
The top of the holster pocket has a printed image of a cowboy on horse with lasso and letters that are somewhat worn but clearly read “S Bar”, after which is what appears to be “II” or \"AA\" (?). The pocket will accommodate most medium size caps guns (approx. 9 inch long) such as Nichols .38s, Hubley Texan, cast iron Kilgore Long Tom or Big Horn or Schmidt/Classy pistols.
An unusual addition to any collection.
