Vintage 50s 1950s Tom\'s Roasted Peanuts jar with lid in mint condition.
The lettering and handle are very bright and are perfect on this Store counter top advertising display jar.
Tom’s (now Tom’s Snacks Co.) began in 1925 in Columbus, Georgia, when a young mechanical inventor named Tom Huston received peanuts from farmers in payment for some of his mechanical inventions. Huston then designed a mechanical peanut sheller, a roasting process for shelled peanuts, and put the roasted peanuts into a narrow cellophane package which later received a patent and marked with a triangular label that reads “Tom’s Toasted Peanuts.”
Tom\'s promoted their roasted peanuts by providing grocers with counter jars such as this one to display snack sized packages of peanuts for sale.
The lettering on the jar reads:
Delicious
Tom\'s Toasted Peanuts
An American Tradition
Prop. Tom\'s Distbr. - Not to be sold
This would make and excellent addition to your kitchen or bar. Use it to store peanuts, candy or just as a ready to display piece.
MEASUREMENTS:
