Beautiful Vintage 1948 Silvertone H-708 Acoustic Archtop Guitar, made in USA by Harmony Co. of Chicago, prod/model # 3801H708 S-48, second half of 1948This model features a Grand Auditorium 16-1/2\" wide lower bout andlike the higher end Harmony Monterey line, although the original Sears Catalogue listed them as having a 15-1/2\" body like most of their other archtops. It has a solid spruce top that is 20\" long withsolidcurly maple back and sides, fully arched top and back, bound rosewood fingerboard with heavy bindings on top with bound back and heel cap, original bone nut, pickguard, Kluson tuners w/ replaced buttons and rosewood bridge. It has the big paddle headstock with the \"windchime\" logo, still intact and very cool. Beautiful deep Harmony sunburst finish with a lot of cool finish crazing and crackling, rich spruce top with nice birdseye maple sides and classy maple back with pinstripe. The neck was reset, body seams and binding fixed, frets dressed and setup to play great with nice smooth wonderful action, bridge fully adjustable in either direction to suit your playing style and string gauge, set up with new D\'Addario 80/20 Brass 12s with action set at about 3/32\" at 12th fret or less. Nice balanced archtop tone with plenty of punch and sustain. It has a couple of top crack repairs that seem to be holding up fine and the center seam is just starting to open up between the tailpiece. There are scratches, dings and finish imperfections all over with some chips and wear on back of the headstock, finish cracks all over the body and one on the side way up the neck that looks like a crack, but is only in the finish, endpin is missing. This guitar has mojo, charm and big time tone.
