Very Solid 1998 MARTIN DM Acoustic Dreadnought, Made in USA, G\'d Cond, Case For Sale

The Martin DM wasintroduced in 1996 as the prototype for Martin’s Road Series, the company’smost affordable all-wood guitars. It was listed at $1199 retail and availableat discount stores for $950 or so. While it was discontinued, quality used oneslike this one give you a chance to own a genuine Martin with a solid Sitka sprucetop made in Nazareth, Pennsylvania, for about half that list price. This particularguitar was produced in 1998, judging from the serial number (632131) and theMartin website. It is now in good playing condition, with a couple of problemsprofessionally fixed: a damaged area around the end pin has been glued andcleated, as have the two cracks visible in the top. The action is a bit high formy arthritic finger-pickin’ at 4/32” at the 12th fret low E, but foryoung folks with picks and a need for large sound it functions very well.
Cosmetically, itlooks good—like a basic Martin--with its few visible dings in the back, neck, andsides. After 20 years of making music, that solid Sitka spruce top is justreaching its maximum resonance, and with some new Martin strings it will soundgreat—like a Martin, in other words. And of course it has that great goldMartin logo on the top of the headstock!
