US M1855 Bayonet + Leather Scabbard for .58 Caliber Civil War Musket~Very Nice For Sale

• Very nice M1855 Civil War bayonet with leather type bayonet... model 1855
• Used by Union forces during the U.S. Civil War
• Produced by the Springfield Armory and private contractors 1857-1865
• Used with the .58 caliber M1855, M1861, and M1863 rifle-muskets
• Models 1856, 1858, and 1870 and others have also been listed
• The 3\" socket has a clasp tightened by a screw
• The blade, in cross section, is triangular... width is 3/4\" tapering to a point
• The letters \"U.S.\" are stamped are the upper flat near the neck
• This model fit the Springfield rifles
• This information is from:
• \"The U.S. Army in the West, 1870-1880: Uniforms, Weapons, and Equipment\" by Douglas C. to be an 1855 Type III 2 Rivet Frog S52
• Made of black bridle leather
• The belt frog is doubled over itself, sewn, and rivetedwith 2 copper rivets
• 3 1/2\" brass tip... please see photo

• Both are in VERY NICE vintage true to original shape, and complete
• Clasp with screw moves easily and freely
• NO nicks or dings
• Generally very bright... some uneven color on the neck... please see intact, and complete with brass tip, which has great patina
• Stitching is intact
• Nice patina to brass rivets
• NO holes
• Leather has some flaking and wear on the leather edges from age and use... please see photos
• Brass tip has some dents... is missing one tiny rivet... please see photos

• Excellent authentic addition to a vintage Civil War or militaria collection... perfect for reenactments
