Ty Cobb Hand Signed Game Used 1917-19 Louisville Slugger Baseball Bat Babe Ruth:
$175,000

1917-19 Hillerich & Bradsby Louisville Slugger 125 dash dot dash pro model baseball bat. It is a blank barrel bat as were most pro model bats at that era including most of Cobb's gamers. However, it has many characteristics of a Cobb game used bat such as it's length of 34.5" which is the exact length of ALL Cobb game used bats. It weighs 35 ounces which means that it originally weighed between 40 and 43 ounces and is consistent with known Cobb gamers, when one considers that over a 100 year period of time a wood baseball bat typically loses 5 to 8 ounces in weight due to drying. It has rasp marks on both ends and deadwood on the barrel secured by 15 small bat boy nails which were legal for game use at the time and commonly employed by Cobb to harden the barrel of his bats. The bat has numerous ball and cleat marks which are always found on Cobb bats. Most importantly the bat is almost totally tobacco stained which also is a well known characteristic of Cobb gamers. Cobb's signed this bat with a metal tip fountain pen as you can see in the photos. I have been collecting signed baseball items for more than 30 years and Cobb's signature looks spot on to me. This is a very rare item. I have found sale records for only 3 other signed Cobb bats. They were all game used by Cobb. It's well known that Cobb often refused to sign bats. The bat comes with a 30 day return policy. I do not have a COA. I never have a COA unless the item that I am selling came with a COA when I bought it. If a buyer wants to pay $2000 or more for an OPINION that is not a guaranty, a warranty or insurance, that will be up to him or her. If you are seriously considering buying this rare bat, you should know what you are buying without relying on a COA. If you don't, you should not be considering buying it. Please feel free to contact me with your questions. All reasonable offers will be considered. Please check out other great bats I have listed. Thanks for your interest.
