Brief History of the International Silver Company

The International Silver Company was incorporated in 1898 by a number of independent New England Silversmiths whose family backgrounds began with the earliest American settlers. International became not only renown for the quality of its fine silver, it became the world\'s largest manufacturer of silverware.

The History of Spoon RingsSpoon rings are believed to have originated in England in the 1600’s. The story is that servants that couldn\'t afford a “real” wedding ring would steal a silver spoon from their master and have it crafted into a ring. Many arrests were made from the 17th to the 19th century with offenses ranging from “stealing a silver spoon” to “larceny by a servant.” Criminal records allowed historians to determine when spoon rings began.By the 19th century Spoon Ring popularity waned but then it took off again during the 60\'s and 70\'s.
