See the images. This is an interesting and very good quality 1889 George Washington Centennial Inauguration Commemorative medal issued to the members of the Committee. About 3 1/4\" top to bottom. Obverse with bust of Washington, etc. Pinback top bar \"NEW YORK 1789 -GW- 1889\" with the reverse hallmarked by Tiffany. Suspended engraved bar \"GENERAL COMMITTEE.\" Reverse has an eagle at the top, \"To Commemorate the Inauguration of George Washington as First President of the United States of America at New York,\" etc. This handsome Washington medal was designed by Augustus Saint-Gaudens.This is the only one of these I have owned. I did see one listed on in October of 2015 for a starting offer of $595 and a Buy it Now of $775.Condition XF. As you can see from the photos, this has been cleaned. I have not attempted to re-tone it, but it might be possible. Re-ribboned, I think. FREE POSTAGE !!!
