Rare Conning Confederate Civil War Scabbard For Sale

Very rare Confederate scabbard for a James Conning cavalry sword. Very nice condition all-original scabbard made by James Conning of Mobile, Alabama. I bought this scabbard on a Dog River sword years ago and always planned on buying a loose Conning sword for it, but never found one. From the Confederate Swords and Sabers book this one is textbook and obviously different from any American made or wristbreaker type. I had some evidence of lead in the hanger and throat seems. You can see the seem through the patina on about half of the scabbard. The rings are larger than a normal 1840 scabbard and most importantly is the signature extra-large drag that doesn’t look like any other. I have had this scabbard at the Franklin TN show and other collectors agree but I just didn’t have any luck finding a sword for it.
