RARE Antique Brass Fox Hunting Horn Trumpet - French P. Callens-Foulon Courtrai For Sale

ANTIQUE HUNTING HORN

Acquired at an estate sale is this antiquehunting horn. Marked “P. Callens-Foulon”over “Coutrai”. According to my researchCallens-Foulon was a brass instrument maker in the late 1800’s in France. This horn measures 11 inches long. It has had a rough life with lots of dings,dents, etc… even some paint. I am by no means an instrument expert so Ihave not done any work to it. So I havenot removed the paint in fear of ruining the patina or making a bright spotwhere you don’t want it. The new ownercan decide what if anything to do with it.The mouth piece unscrews – see photos of metal reed. Yes, it works. I can barely whistle yet I was able to make aloud sound out of it. There is a creasethat made a hole a crack – see photos.Please ask questions. And if youknow anything about this piece I would like to hear from you.
