Estate Antique late 18th Century to early 19th Century

pair 2-Tine UTILITY Kitchen FORKS -

Carved Bone handles with awesome cross-hatch design work

Age-darkened Bone handle riveted to the tangs. Carbon Steel with good patina. Guesstimate 1790s-1820s-30s

Handles are virtually the same carving, but one is slightly larger... either the carver ran out of material or for some other reason intentionally made one smaller. Could also be a master was teaching an apprentice?

Many people today call these Granny forks. But our predecessors did not!

Great display or treat gently while using! Great for historic reenactments!

Appx. size: each 7\" +/- One slightly longer due to slightly wider longer handle -- Nice size and weight in hand

--NO CLUE as to actual age, but based on the family estate it was in and on comparable items, assuming range circa 1790s into 1820s. If you have any pertinent info, please let us know so we can be correct.

Anyone interested in eighteenth-nineteenth century utilitarian objects should love this!!!

The professional cook\'s preference: Never soak Carbon Steel, never put in a dishwasher, always wipe it frequently during cooking, wash in hot soapy water and hand dry immediately after rinsing. Use mineral oil on rust spots - Grey-bluish patina is good, rust is not. Keep knives well honed before each use.

We can often package many pieces with little -if any- increase in postage, for multiple wins!

ADDITIONAL:

Check out ourother sales and listings, more vintage, antiques, plus charms and charm bracelets, with some general info about vintage sterling:

FYI: it is not unusual for sterling charms to be unmarked from this era:many charms came unmarked on display sales cards that had the maker and metalinfo; as well as jewelry items under a certain weight did not have to behallmarked.

FYI: Rhodium is in the Platinum family of metals.
It was often used in the 50s-70s toplate sterling silver to avoid tarnishing,
In the Rhodium plating process, 925Sterling Silver is given a nickel underplate prior to Rhodium plating. Thenickel is magnetic and causes the magnetic attraction.

FYI: Sterling: .925 silver ----------- European Silver:.800 or .835 or .900 silver

We want you to get your items exactlyas they are when you win them...SOplease take note: we double pack any breakables, we often triplepack antiques, so thataddsweightto thepackage.

A breakable item is unique, a breakable antique is irreplaceable-- so if your10-ounce breakable &/or antique item --- which istheoretically first-class rate --- weighs in at over a pound in packed weight(parcel rate), that is because we double or triple pack/box the item.Everyone gripes at the cost of postage until the item arrives damaged...We will NOT toss your irreplaceable item into a bubble bag just to save you adollar or 2-3 in postage because the risk of damage is too great. Thanksfor your understanding & as Gram said \"WHEN IN DOUBT, DONT\"-

A Word About The CLOTHING / WEARABLES We Sell

PLEASE NOTE: Any clothing /shoes / wearables we list are helping us to clean out our closets and boxes of stored goods.

For all clothing we sell - new and especially used - we check for holes, tears, wear, spots, or any other imperfections before we list.

Whether new or used, we have made every attempt to note any flaws in our sales, butmay miss something.

We ask you to understand that even if we missed something in the description, you are still getting aBARGAINcompared to buying retail, soYOUmay need to have the garment cleaned, get a button replaced, stitch where threads have come loose, whatever...

Many can be worn as they are, but would benefit from a pressing or cleaning at winner\'s discretion -- especially worn garments, or even if clothing in new \"store\" condition, since they have been folded wrapped and packed.

In any event, NO exchanges or returns,

Gramma used to say \"When in doubt, dont!\"

Check our response on clothing we sell: no one has complained yet!!!
