PDL CAVALRY OFFICERS SABER For Sale

This original Cavalry Sabre is an American made Civil War officer\'s sword. The PDL (P.D.Luneschloss)marked blade, however, was made inSolingen, Germany. These blades were ordered by several different Northern sword manufacturers, Tiffany of NY being one of them. During this time period the finest steel blades for swords and cutlery were made in Solingen. This sword\'s handle and scabbard are American made. Handle has all of its original sharkskin and triple wire wrap firmly in place. Handle still hasremnants of gold gilding in a few low areas. Pommel cap and hand guard have the typical decorative leaf design. Blade is fairly bright with some minimal to light pitting at the bottom one third. Blade has eagle and sunburst panel on one side and scrolled US on the other. Blade has its original leather throat washer. Scabbard is virtually dent-free with a nice smooth gun metal gray patina.
