This is a wonderful pair of antique hanging taxidermy game/birds/ducks/fowl feathers with hand-painted legs and feet.
Based on the frames, they date somewhere from the 1890s to about 1910.
I\'m fairly certain they are original to the frames, but had different backings put on later.
Each of the matching frames measures 19 1/2 inches x 23 1/2 inches (49.5 cm x 59.7 cm).
As you can see in the photos, on one of the pieces there are two round spots which are probably due to foxing. This same piece has a large water stain in the back, but this has absolutely no affect on the front side. The other piece has no problems, except for some chips to the frame. The frames on each have a few chipped areas (please see photos).
Oddly enough, when they framed them, they put the hanging wire on the wrong side! Were they hanging in the wrong direction all these years?
Together they weigh 11 lbs. 14 oz. (5.4 kg).
