Original Vintage 1970\'s MELLOTRON M400 For Sale

 Original 1970\'s Mellotron M400SUPER clean with very minor cosmetic wear. Upgraded SMS-5 motor controller. Tape set includes flute, strings and cello. Also included is a Nakamichi tape head demagnetizer and the rare Protect-O-Muff leather protective case and a non-original volume pedal. The Mellotron case has been restored with a gorgeous original-style refinish. There is a small added hole in front panel and the rear panel had been modified for access.
This Mellotron is exceptionally clean inside, as you can see from the pictures. No mice, no shenanigans. All internal parts: pads, heads, rollers, wood, etc. are in excellent condition. It was always lovingly stored in a climate-controlled environment or out for use in my smoke-free studio.
 
What does it sound like? Please listen to the video, which was recorded direct with no EQ and the reverb or echo was added in DAW: for unpredictable and temperamental instruments like this, it is playing very well, despite being relatively dormant for a few years. If you are reading this, you know that it WILL need adjustment when you get it. That is their nature.This is great opportunity to finally own the REAL THING, not a plug-in. You can compare this to the difference between playing a video game of driving a sports car….and actually driving one. The tactile sensation cannot be duplicated!
