ORIG WWII 1942 US ARMY AX / HATCHET AMERICAN FORK & HOE CO. (AFH) VG For Sale

This is an original U.S. Army / U.S. Marine Corps hand ax or hatchet in very good condition. Used, shows some wear, has some of its factory original paint. Head of axe is embossed with \"U.S. American Fork and Hoe Co. 1942.\" Handle of ax in very nice condition, no cracks or damage, has some of the original paint. Head of ax is firmly attached. Ax head shows some oxidation, wear from use. Could easily be refurbished by sharpening and repainting, if desired. OD paint is original, ax never repainted. Bluish color on axe head is a coat of primer, I have seen this before on these WWII axes. This one shows some wear, but has a nice early WWII date of 1942, and is in very sound condition with original handle, wedge, etc., and handle is not cracked or loose as many of these are. Overall a very sound item, original from 1942. These were used by GI\'s when constructing foxholes, especially those with logs or brush roofs.
