ONLY KNOWN 1933 National League Team Signed ball PSA -VERY FIRST ALL-STAR GAME:
$5000.00

Offered here is a one of a kind piece authenticated with a full letter by PSA/DNA. This is the only known 1933 National League All-Star Team Signed ball. This ball was Chicago White Sox center field Hall of Famer Al Simmons personal souvenir from the original All-Star game. He took a ball from the game and asked the National League team to pass it around the dugout and sign it for him. This item is from the Al Simmons estate and comes with a letter of provenance from Al Simmons grand-daughter Karen Simmons. The Official American League Harridge baseball is signed by 15 members of the 1933 National League All-Star team. Signatures range from visible to 8/10. The 1933 All-Star game was the first ever official MLB All Star game. The game was played at Comiskey Park in Chicago on July 6, during the 1933 Chicago Worlds Fair. The All-Star game was intended to be a one time event to boost morale during the Great Depression. The Chicago Tribune called it the \"Game of the Century\" - the first time the best players in the National League took on the best in the American League. Babe Ruth led the American League team to a 4-2 victory over the National league, hitting the first ever Homerun in an All-Star game - a 2 run shot in the third inning.
This baseball is signed by 7 Hall of Famers (Gabby Hartnett, John McGraw, Bill McKechnie, Pie Traynor, Paul Waner, Chick Hafey, Chuck Klein) . The National League team did not have the star studded lineup of the American League (Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Jimmie Foxx, etc) but there is an impressive list here. Some of the signatures are very hard to find (Paul Waner, Chick Hafey, Chuck Klein, John McGraw). There are at least 6 known 1933 American League All Star team signed baseballs, but this is the only known National League All Star team signed ball. The last 1933 American League All Star team signed ball (with 18 signatures) sold for $28,800 through a major sale house in December 2017. The ball looked identical to this, but displayed bolder signatures and some bigger names.
Only missing the following signatures for a complete team: Jimmie Wilson, Bill Terry, Frankie Frisch, Woody English, Hal Schumacher, Max Carey
HERE IS THE 1933 NATIONAL LEAGUE ALL-STAR TEAM ROSTER. The names in bold are signed on this baseball.
