Magnavox Tube Stereo HiFi Amplifier Amp 175-DD Push-Pull 6V6 Customized:
$375.00

This is a Magnavox model 175-DD Stereo Push-Pull Tube Amplifier which has been highly customized and modified for standalone use. It is ready to plug & play. It was pulled from a Magnavox stereo console. This is one of the rarer Magnavox console tube amplifiers. It is one of the first stereo console amps that Magnavox produced. Probably assembled in 1958. The 175-DD amps were actually built on leftover AMP-142 chassis during the advent of stereo.Note: For anyone who was viewing/watching this item previously, I have now added a volume control! This amplifier has been recapped including the power supply filter capacitors. The resistors have been replaced and upgraded to 5% tolerance resistors. There are a few of the original ceramic disc capacitors remaining but they are all functioning properly and rarely go bad. The old multicaps are just there for show. This amp has been given a highly customized appearance in a matte black paint scheme with chrome accents. This amp is extremely quiet at idle. All tubes are included. The tube lineup consists of 6V6 output tubes (x4 Magnavox brand), 12AX7 preamp tubes (x2 Magnavox & GE brand), and a 5U4 rectifier tube (x1 Magnavox brand). This amp puts out roughly 12 watts per channel. It accepts a line level input via gold plated RCA jacks. The following modifications/improvements were made to this amp: 1) Replaced and upgraded resistors with new 5% tolerance resistors. 2) Replaced and increased the value of the coupling capacitors to .1uf and .05uf which allows for better bass response. 3) Added new power supply filter capacitors underneath the chassis. 4) Corrected the original response loop circuit so both channels now have equal gain (the original schematic had one channel with higher gain than the other to compensate for the remote stereo speaker unit hookup in the original console configuration). 5) Increased the cathode bypass capacitor value to 100uf. 6) The addition of a lighted rocker switch. 7) The addition of a new power cord with fuse and fuse holder. 8) The addition of speaker binding posts. 9) The addition of gold plated RCA jacks. 10) A vented bottom cover plate and rubber feet. 11) The addition of a volume control knob. I have been testing this amp in my home and it is sounding wonderful! These Magnavox console amplifiers are well known and sought after for their outstanding performance. You can view my recent response to see that I have many satisfied customers who have already purchased some of my customized console tube amplifiers. The amp will be heavily bubble wrapped, padded, and double boxed for shipping. I will pull the tubes before shipping and pack them separately in bubble wrap so they do not break. Feel free to ask questions. I usually respond to questions within an hour. Thanks.
