A rare USA made Chronometer John Bliss was one of three American Chronometer Makers at this time the others being William Bond and Thomas Negus. The F Allerding label is prior to 1885 as by this time his labels had a telephone number on them The chronometer was cleaned by Bill Galbraith in 1978. The chronometer is running and keeping time.The G H stamped on the front plate is probably the mark of George Henry Bliss (who joined the firm in 1864) the youngest son of John Bliss Senior The box is 185mm x 185mm x185mm
