Hairston played for the Chicago White Sox for much of his career, 1973-1977 and 1981-1989. In between he played for the Pittsburgh Pirates in 1977. Overall in 859 games he hit .258 with 30 home runs. He is the second of three generations of Hairstons that have played in the major leagues. Hairston is now 66 years old, living in Tucson, Arizona.
