IMPERIAL GERMAN MODEL 1889 CAVALRY OFFICER DRESS SWORD W/ ENGRAVED BLADE For Sale

Good condition and guaranteed original Imperial German Model1889 cavalry officer dress sword. This rare sword has beautiful triple (bothsides and the spine) engraving on the blade. Marked to the 8thHussar Regiment (aka 1st Westfalian) on the right side and has acavalry charge scene on the left. Blade is marked “Husar Pager” on the rightside at the base. 31 ¾” blade has original bright finish with some scatteredflaking to brown, edge has some small nicks and dings. Remaining metal finishis original bright showing a little wear. Features a folding guard with thePrussian eagle design. Guard folding spring is broken or absent. The grippommel cap is absent. Grip has a small chip by the pommel area and another chipby the guard. Sword is fitted in correct original steel scabbard that hasoriginal blue metal finish turning brown with a few dings. Scabbard is unitmarked “Kdtr.J.10.J.3.1.” near the throat. This sword is shown on page 215 ofthe book “Uniforms and Accoutrements of the Imperial German Hussars, 1880-1910Hussar Regiments 1-9” by Paul Sanders, Schiffer Military History books.
