Here\'s an immaculatespark gap and induction coil that dates to the first few years of the last century. The coil and gap were likely part of an early, experimental radio damped wave transmitter that pre-dated CW broadcast transmissions by at least a decade. Appears to be English, and as you can see from the photos, the build quality is exceptional.Condition is excellent, and the apparatus is enormous. Measures approximately 24\" x 13\" x 13\" and weighs approximately 50lb. Beautiful mahogany housing (dovetailed corner joints), beautiful black wrap on the induction coil, beautiful spark gap, beautiful gutta percha interrupter knobs and electrode handles, beautifulbrass hardware with no oxidation and virtually no tarnish. Binding post assemblies retain their original bronzed finish. Cabinet is pristine, and the shellac finish is original, with only scattered minor marks consistent with age and authenticity.I\'m unable to geta continuity readingon thewindings, so the apparatus is being offered for historical and/or display purposes only. Nonetheless,I can\'t imagine you\'ll find a nicer example of thisancient instrument anywhere.Shipping weight, properly packed, will be approximately 60 lb.That\'s about it.
