A rare find. Given to me as a gift when I was learning the art, this is a Hakro brand brass swing away lay gauge for the 10x15 Heidelberg windmill letter press. The pin swings out of the way of the closing platen, allowing for much greater flexibility in plate positioning. An antique, but in perfect working condition. It\'s been cleaned and the spring mechanism lightly oiled.
Boxcar Press was selling a modern equivalent of this design for a short time a few years ago, but even their modern version has become impossible to find.
