HALLICRAFTERS S-40A HF RADIO 0.5-44MHz COMMUNICATIONS RECEIVER

S-40A Communications Receiver made in USA in 1948 and 1949. It powers up, light goes on (onebulb is not working). I'm not sure if the radio tubes are good and I don't have replacements tocheck it out. I'm not getting any sound. Also, the electric wire is old and brittle and should bereplaced or at least taped up as it is cracked in a couple of sections.

The thread which turns the band selector dial is broken but this looks like an easy enough fix. The glass over that dial has warped (see photo). There is no glass over the other dial.

This would be a good restoration project for someone who knows what they're doing. I've shownpictures inside and out.

When working, Frequency Coverage extends from 480KHz Mediumwave up to over 44MHzShortwave / Low VHF, in 4 Bands.

Cosmetically, this needs a bit of cleaning up and fixes as mentioned above.
