Fossil Fish, Fundulus nevadaensis, Miocene, Nevada, in Riker Mount: $20.00
This fossil fish is fundulus nevadaensis, from the Miocene period. It was collected, with permission, from the edge of a diatomite quarry near Hazen, Nevada. The matrix is a soft diatomaceous shale. At 53 mm (2 1/8\") this fish is especially large for the species- most are half it\'s length. The Riker mount is 5 1/4\" x 4 3/8\", and the matrix is 3 3/8\" x 2 1/2\". No repairs or restoration have been made. Cranial elements are disarticulating, but the skeleton is exquisite in detail and contrast. Great little fish, displays nicely.
