Fine antique Etui of drawing instruments by Claude Langlois c 1730 Rare diminutive ‘Necessaire de Mathématiques’ by Claude Langlois (fl. 1730-50) supplier of the Academy of Sciences. It dates from the first half of his career, when he kept shop at the sign of the Level (au Niveau)The elegant engraving on the demi-pied du Roy is characteristic of his better pieces, and quite similar to the work of his contemporary: le Maire.
NOTE: I also list my items on a mailing list, of fellow collectors. I therefore occasionally end my sales early, unless reserve has been met, when a sale is made through the mailing.
