Felix Hernandez threw this ball for a strikeout of Evan Longoria and the first two strikes of a Ben Zobrist strikeout in the 8th inning of his 2012 Perfect Game, the last one pitched in MLB. The ball was thrown for 7 pitches total. The screen grabs are of Felix\'s pitching this ball to strike out Longoria. You can see the ball leaving his hand and Longoria flailing at the ball as the bottom drops out. Felix struck out the side this inning and this ball accounts for five of the nine strikes.
It was autographed by King Felix a few days later. ALL of this is authenticated by MLB (see certificate below).
This a rare and historic ball worthy of display in the Hall of Fame. Only 23 perfect games have been thrown in over 210,000 games played and over 140 years of MLB history. No-hitters are very rare but there have been about 13 times as many no-hitters (303) as perfect games. A ball thrown by a pitcher in a no-hitter is special, but a strikeout, one thrown for 7 pitches, is far more so. And one from a perfect game and authenticated by MLB is a truly unique and significant piece of the game.
