Up For sale is a Lovey refurbished Conn 1940 22b trumpet:NEW YORK SYMPHONY SPECIAL
ENGRAVED ON LEAD PIPE
OFFICIALLY MAKING IT A SPECIAL
(see pic 4 )IT HAS been all refinished even the nickel...confirmed by my tech.
My tech said who refurb\'d this really know what they were doing.
See the engraving how crisp it is no over buffing out and blurring etcGIG READYI had My tech fully rebuild the cork with slots
for the valve guides. He aligned the valves also.

To me even the valves look like they may

have been re-plated. My tech was not sure but he said

they are in fantastic shape. ( see pics )

SLIDES popped great !!!

I did the below tests with out even putting OIL on valves !

AS far assideplay when you joggle the valve stems

half way down.

Virtually NOSlop at all.

I checked the compression by

removingthe slides and putting the valves all the way down.

Then I put my finger over the removedslide openings and blew.

Valve1 virtually No air

Valve 2 virtually No air

Valve3 virtually No air

I checked the air flow thru the whole horn by removing

the 1st slide and depressing all three valves.

When I blew relatively hard Virtually NO Airleak...

So My conclusion is the compression is Fantastic for a very old trumpet !!

Pro\'s will tell you also...\" how it sounds is the most important thing !! \"

Even our rabbit born in our yard stopped to take notice ( see pic 8 ) Now what Rabbit

doesn\'t know a lovely horn when she sees it ????????????/

The 3rd slide is smooth.

Case not original but in decent shape.

.
The serial number is 335xxx putting her at 1940.

NO obvious repairs to braces etc ( see all pics and zoom in ).

The only thing I saw was at the base of the support bar that attaches to the front

bell brace there is what may be a tiny repair. See pic 1

but it is pretty minor you can hardly notice it. This trumpet is lovely lovely and very RARE !

No smell at all on the horn.

All cork and felt and bottom springs are new !

I WILL SHIP IN A BRAND NEW GIG BAG NO CHARGE

It looks like someone

did change just the finger tops to larger type \" Olds \"

Style. Not the stems. They feel great under finger tips.

Some one asked if the lyre screw was original. I am not sure.

What the Conn loyalist says:

\" Of the 22B Specials that you see these days, about 75% have been

poorly relacquered, with the nice engraving buffed to oblivion.

The other 25% have original lacquer in poor condition.

Since the 22B Special was very much a professional instrument...etc \"

they go on:

\" A previous owner of a 22B Special had this to say about it upon first receiving it:
\"It speaks so easy, the tightest, best responding horn I have ever played. Most horns I have played feel like I am blowing

into something external. This horn seems to connect to the player like it is an extension of your body. With the ever so slightest effort the horn responds.\"

Another 22B Special owner says this about the instrument: \"The horn responds very well, especially in the lower registers. What Ithought was
really unusual, was the intonation of the horn: the low D which is typically sharp was dead on, no lipping necessary. The C# didneed to be adjusted,
but not that much. Overall intonation is awesome! It slots particularly well; nice centered rich sound. As I got intothe upper registers, above high c,
I could play higher a lot easier due to the smaller bore etc \"

Full link thanks C for the use of the site. GREAT SITE refinish job on the brass is very professional. Look at the engraving.

NICE. It goes to the top past the 1st valve.

I can feel logo very well under finger tips.

The nickel was redone also.

The NY Symphony Special logo on the lead pipe is visible. ( SEE PIC 4 )

SOME SAY THEY HAVE SPECIALS THAT DON\'T HAVE THE LOGO.

THIS ONE IS VERIFIED WITH LOGO PRESENT !!!

ALSO I HAVE SEEN Specials that you couldn\'t even read the NYS Special logo etc

BECAUSE IT WAS BUFFED OUT SO BAD !

She is a clean machine !!!!!
