Thisis an item I bought at an sale for a fundraiser for the\"Friends of Joshua Tree\" sometime around 1986. The sale was to raise funds for keeping climbing open in Joshua Tree and the Lowe\'s brought this item along in support of the cause. (There was some debate about drilling holes in the rock at the time).

Per the description on the back (A typed paper encased in plastic): \"Exhibit A This is the original TriCam. Greg cut this out of the back of a 4\" Chouinard Bong back in the early seventies when he was doing the early development work on camming units. This one is well used and has been pull tested to over 3,000 lbs.\"

I thought it was amazing and bought it at sale while my friends scoffed. There was a wonderful little party going on. I\'ve included a photo of the assembled \"Rock master\'s\", the climbing elite of the day.A similar (better) photowas soon after published in \"Climbing\" magazine. (It could have been \"Rock and Ice\"). There\'s also a photo of some of the going\'s on at the event.

TheFIRST TriCam. A bit of a Frankenstein. It ain\'t pretty, but to me it\'s beautiful: the creative process in action, caught mid-stream. We all have TriCam\'s in our gear, but this...this isTHE comments welcome.
