Ca 1940s DOWNERS GROVE ILLINOIS: EDWARD G. LEMON For Sale

White, red and black ink blotter, about 5-1/2 x 3-1/4 inches, issued by Edward G. Lemon & Co., real estate, loans, insurance, Downers Grove Ill., \"Chicago Suburb\". The logo of the Buffalo Insurance Company appears within the red band at bottom. Edward G. Lemon wasa substantial citizen of Downers in his day -- among other things, a poultry fancier (secretary of the Downers Grove Poultry Club, ca 1907!) and apparently a dog fancier, too (at least he owned \"Bonnie Carnshanna\", a sable and white female collie bred by Dr. W.W. Gaurley of Downers, whelped in July 1904 and listed in that year\'s American Kennal Club Stud Book). Mrs. Lemon was president of the Downers Grove Womens Club (1894). This blotter probably dates to the 1940\'s, judging by its graphics. Unused; some edge wear. Condition as scan shows.
