Very good condition British Brown Bess type socket bayonetthat features a massive 22 ½” sword blade. This interesting piece was probablybuilt as a volunteer or colonial pattern and is solely marked “S” on the rightside of the blade. Brown patina with some gray. Blade was never sharpened andhas no nicks or dings. Socket measures 4” long with a 23mm inside diameter. Avery interesting sword bayonet that will make a great addition to yourcollection, and impressive display piece, and warrants further research.
