A very heavy duty 5 inch blacksmith leg vice.
This one is missing the spring that separates the jaws and the metal wedges that secures the mounting bracket. Both wedges and spring are easily fashioned by a competent metal worker. My suggestion would be to use leaf spring stock for the spring. The job of the spring is to push open the jaws of the vice.
Vintage blacksmith leg vices are made from wrought iron rather than cast Iran and consequently can take and in enormous
beating.
