Babe Ruth (Babe Ruth\'s Called Shot) World Series Oil Painting 1932 :
$375000.00

This is a mural, painted on board with a wood frame. Painting measures 96 1/2\" long by 48 1/2\" tall. It has two sets of hinges still attached to top of frame for display. The characters and signs are attached to background in a three dimensional effect. This is a fine example of American Folk art, created in the early 1930\'s. The mural depicts Ruth calling his homer by pointing to center field, just before he steps into the batters box as recorded by historical accounts. Artist is unknown, origin is unknown. Oil on board. Painting needs minor restoration and remounting. It is estimated that the painting was on display for some 20 plus years, most likely in the Chicago or New York areas. This Painting is the ultimate sports show piece. We know of no other single work of art that exhibits such exuberance and reaches out across so many different levels. This work is one of the biggest iconic moments captured in baseball history. It has storied ties to the beginning of organized baseball prior to modern day media. We have not found a baseball work of art that is similar in stature and recognition, whether it be in a museum or Cooperstown. Because of its size, this sports piece can be viewed from 10 feet or 150 feet. This work encompasses a piece of baseball history by the greatest player to ever play the game. Because of its size, this painting would be ideally suited for display in a stadium, a sports complex, a museum, a sports themed restaurant, casino etc. Their are a couple of conditions attached to the sale. Serious inquires only. As the renowned Mexican muralist, Jose Clemente Orozco once said “The highest, the most logical, the purest and strongest form of painting is the mural. It is for the people.” To all the Cooperstown inquiries: At the moment, the only way that this painting can find its way to Cooperstown or another museum is if it is purchased and gifted. Personally speaking, this Painting should be hanging in Yankee Stadium for all Yankee fans to see. It should be included in the price of admission. Trust me, when I tell you the fans will never get sick of looking at it.......but what do I know, I\'m a Red Sox fan.
