This is a beautiful Schatz Brass and wood ships wheel clock called the Royal Mariner. The Schatz Royal Mariner has the unique property of being a ship\'s bell clock. Ships bell clock rang the bells for each half-hour of a ships watch and ships watches normally ran for 4 hours.(I believe this may be an 8 day clock, at least that is what the gentleman that gave this to me told me.) Some models had an external bell. There are other models that were framed in a spoked ships wheel and had an internal bell. This, is one of those models. The measurements are, approximately 13” for the ships wheel in diameter, 6” in diameter for the brass body of the clock itself and 5-1/4” for the face of the clock. From the back of the clock to the front is approximately 3-3/4” to maybe 4”. It is in good condition. It keeps time but the chiming off, the chimes are chiming different amounts at the top of and at the half hour. Sometimes at 2 o\'clock, it will chime 4 times and at the half hour just once, maybe more. Either way, it chimes the bell.

A. Set the hands to the correct time by turning the minute hand (longest one) forwards (clockwise) or backwards (anti-clockwise). The chimes “should” automatically adjust themselves.

B. Do not touch the hour hand (very sensitive it is) as it moves automatically when the minute hand is turned. Should the hour hand accidentally be moved, then the clock cannot strike the correct hour. To rectify, push the hour hand to the hour the clock has just struck, and then reset to correct time by method described under step A.(but this process doesn\'t seem to be working for me)

This will be packed very carefully and securely so as to protect the glass and delicate hands.
