AMAZING FULL PICTORIAL ENAMEL SOLID STERLING SILVER, GUILLOCHE AND ENGRAVED ANTIQUE (CIRCA 1905-1910) SINGING BIRD BOX

The quality of the hand painted enamel scenes is superb and equally amazing is the exceptional guilloche tooling which is both very fine, intricate and differs throughout the case. Every square millimeter of this case is decorated and it is amazing. The enamel scenes are in pristine condition without any damage or repair.

Zoom in and look closely at the fine details and watch the video where I provide a full 360 degree perspective which showcases the quality of the guilloche and enamel work. The guilloche is especially beautiful beneath the cobalt blue enamel panels.

The bird is highly colorful boasting a rainbow of colorful iridescent hummingbird feathers. Iridescent feathers present themselves differently depending upon the light source and viewing angle. I tried to capture the beauty of this bird using different angles in my video but cameras never do these feathers justice.

This case took a lot of skill and time to craft and attention to detail is evident - even the bird shaped on/off lever is engraved and enameled. Having worked on hundreds of antique singing bird boxes, I have recently come to the educated conclusion that prior to 1919 when Karl Griesbaum made his first singing bird box movement, he had a partnership with the enigmatic Swiss firm of Raymy/OMM who supplied bird box movements to Karl. Except for the 935 sterling silver mark, \"Made in Germany\" and the Raymy/OMM markings on the movement, this case is not marked. However, the case is an obvious Karl Griesbaum Model 7 design (his best work and each one is unique) but differs slightly from most in that the bird rests inside a recessed oval shaped receptacle similar to the early fusee wind singing bird boxes. I have seen one example similar to mine (and only one), which was referred to as a \"Karl Griesbaum Model 7b\". I know this piece dates to pre-WWI because the OMM serial number is lower than vetted pieces that were made prior to the end of WWI that I have owned.

Overall cosmetic and mechanical condition is pristine. It is amazing for an enameled piece that is over 100 years old to survive in this condition. Upon very close inspection with a loupe or HD close-up digital photo, there are several exceptionally tiny hairlines in the clear enamel layer that rests on top of the lid\'s hand painted enamel scene - not in the actual hand painted scene.

I fully serviced (cleaned, adjusted, lubricated)the mechanical movement so this singing bird box operates perfectly. Buyers should be cautious when purchasing an antique singing bird box - always insist on seeing a photo of the mechanical movement foranysinging bird box described as \"antique\". Over 75% of the \"antique\" singing bird boxes for sale on & other other venues are not antique and many even have brand new mechanisms inside which are not disclosed to buyers. This significantly impacts both current value and future value appreciation.

The bird animates perfectly as follows: wings flap up/down, beak opens/closes, tail flutters up/down, bird turns left/right all the while singing to a beautiful oscillating bird song that is synchronized to the bird animation.

WATCH THE VIDEO (watch the light blue wing tips closely. The animation on this bird box is exceptional and the wings flap rapidly like an early fusee wind example - the best I have seen on a going barrel box.)
