Antique Slickfork Loopseat Western Saddle - Leonard Scheck Co., Denver For Sale

Up for sale is a very rare maker, antique high-back slickfork loop seat western saddle made by the Leonard Scheck Saddle Company out of Denver Colorado. This saddlery was only in bussiness from 1891 to 1902, so that gives a good way to date this saddle. Samuel Leonard once was in partnership with Peter Becker from 1882 to Becker\'s death in 1890 in what was the first saddle shop on the western slope of Colorado. George Sheck then became Leonard\'s partner. The saddle has a 14-1/2 inch seat with 27 inch long skirts and a 5 inch cantle. It has been well used but still retains it\'s original parts including the skirts, fenders, stirrup leathers and jockeys ect.. Saddle is missing it\'s sheepskin lining, has a tear on the right rear jockey and has been re-strung. Leather is good for the most part but a little stiff in a couple places. Marked in 3 different locations, both front jockeys and the seat. For a 100 plus year old saddle, it is in pretty decent shape and has a great look.
