Antique Ornate Carved Flemish Mechelen Oak Dining Table w/Leaf & Six Chairs For Sale

Thisis an antique Flemish Mechelen Oak Dining Set.It has all six originalchairs and the leaf.

It has been in my clients family for decades, and they must now sell as part of an estate sale. It apparently has sat unused in a side room for years. Unfortunately, not much is now known of it\'s history,only that has always been there and to keep off it.

In Belgium,the Flemish style crafted furniture was popular in France to decorate huntinglodges and castles for royalty and aristocrats. This style usually dates from 1860 to 1920. The heavily hand-carved table featuresthe lion heads, and is lavishly adorned with stylized leaves. Thechairs feature hand-carved bear heads, andunbelievably have the original weave onthe seats and chair backs.

I did take photos of each chair, front and back, just like the one (#1 of 6) as shown. I can send these photos on request.

Whenthe leaf is in, the table closes completely. When the leaf is out, the tablehas a gap as shown. We did flip it over to look, but nothing obvious wasimpeding the table’s movement that we could see. We do not try to restore orrepair any of our items. That will be the responsibility of the buyer. This isbeing sold as-is with no warranty or return.

Thisis listed as pick-up only, but if needed we could look into freight at thebuyers expense.
