M1898/05 sword/bayonet \"butcher blade\". Sometimes known as the 98/05 NA( NA= new pattern) having undergone slight modifications from earlier versions. This bayonet was manufactured in 1917 as indicated by the 17 on spine of blade just below the royal cypher of Wilhelm the second, the German Emperor and King of Prussia 1888-1918. The makers marks on both sides at base of blade are in almost pristine condition.
Called the butcher blade for its resemblance to butchers blades of this time period.

Blade= 14.5 inches
Handle/blade length=19.75 inches
Handel= 5.25 inches
The baselit linings are missing, the wood grips are missing!!! This is how I found this item. Other than that this is a great piece of WW1 history!
