This rare French mechanical bird cage/music box is a treasure! The gilded brass cage has an embossed design and is marked \"Made in France\" on the bottom and 132 on the bottom edge. When it is wound, the bird sings and chirps, its head moves side to side, its back tail moves up and down and its beak slightly opens and closes. There is a lever on the bottom that slides to pause the bird\'s music and workswonderfully as well. There is some wear on the bird. On one side the feathers have come loose, but still has it\'s foliage. It is a little dusty, but I did not want to attempt to clean it. It measures approximately 11 1/2\" tall and 6 1/4\" wide.
