This brass weight set has five pieces. The cover of the box is stamped with the letter L, the number 16, and a hallmark of a griffon.
We\'re no experts but we believe that this set is mid 1800\'s Europe.
The round lid measures about 1.5\" across. Measuring the length of the lid on the \'straps\', it is 2 3/8\" wide. The lid of the box is 7/8\" high, but the top of the hinge is 1 1/8\" high. The base is about 1 1/8\" wide.

All together all five pieces weigh 231 grams, 8.1 ounces.The box, which is marked 8 in the inside, weighs 117 grams.The next smallest size is marked 4, and weighs 60 grams.The middle piece is marked 2, and weighs 31 grams.The next smallest piece is marked 1, and weighs 15 grams.The smallest piece is unmarked, and weighs 8 grams.
