This is an antique sword made by Clemen & Jung of Austria or Germany. I\'m not a sword expert, but stamped just above handle (on the lower portion of the blade) is a \"Z\" with a dot on each side, within a shield with small crown? markings above. I understand Clemen and Jung supplied swords to the US during the civil war. I have no idea how old this sword is? Could be Civil War, or WW1, or WW2, or other?It looks \"hand made\" to me, with a visible seam (with a sliver of brass colored metal) running the length of the iron sheath at the bottom. There are also hand file marks on the sword as well.The leather grip looks like its in good condition to me, and the blade, handle, and sheath have some dents and wear and some pitting as well. The blade doesn\'t seem that sharp, so I\'m not sure when it was sharpened last. There is no etching or other decoration on the blade, and the sword itself (not including the sheath) is about 38\" from tip to tip.This sword also came with a tassle, which I will be selling in a separate sale, Because I have no idea if the sword and tassle started life together.A nice old sword!
