Annette Himstedt African American Doll Ayoka From Barefoot Children Series:
This is an interesting colorful doll from Annette Himstedt's Barefoot Children series. This one is Ayoka (African) which means one who causes joy. She measures 27" long and is molded in vinyl after the likeness of a real African Child. She is signed, Annette Himstedt on the back of her neck and also at the waistline. Her clothes are colorful and are original. She has a hard vinyl head that swivels on a long shoulder plate, cloth lower torso, vinyl arms , curved legs, inset eyes with real eyelashes, painted life-like eyebrows, molded upper eyelids, open nose, bare feet and human hair. Her clothes have been washed and body has had a light cleaning but possibly her hair could be washed. I don't see any problems with her condition but there are a couple beads missing from her hairdo. I believe she dates to 1989/90.
