The artist Loretta Garcia is a personal friend and gave this pot to my family in the 1980\'s. It is not signed because gifts are not usually signed by the artist. Below I copied information from a website to give further information on her and her family. I listed the source as well. The pictures included below are from the article and are not the pot we are selling.
LorettaGarcia, “U-Wi-Nit”, was born into the Acoma Pueblo in 1956.Shewas inspired and encouraged to learn the art of pottery making by herMother, Marie Torivio. Marie taught Loretta all the fundamentals ofpottery making, the traditional way, from start to finish. She wasalso economically motivated to make her pottery.Lorettaspecializes in hand coiled traditional pottery. She gathers her clayfrom a sacred ground within the Acoma Pueblo. Loretta soaks the clay,cleans, sifts, mixes, hand coils, shapes, paints, and fires herpottery, the traditional way, outdoors, with pottery shards andmanure.Shehand coils many different shapes and sizes of pottery. She paintsgeometrical and traditional designs on her pottery. Loretta alsopaints on ceramic pottery.
