Mid-Victorian surveyors Theodolite/level
Made byJohn Benjamin Dancer
of
43 Cross St. Manchester.
This instrument is made from lacquered brass and comes in 2 pieces (telescope and tribrach) and comes fitted within its original mahogany box.
The main body has 2 bubble levels,
The original lens protector needs to be fitted back on the front( I do not attempt to repair or clean any item I sell, they come as I find them).
Measurements (approx); The overall length is 13.75\" (35cm) without the focusing extended, height is 8.5\" (21.5cm).
Condition; Optically the instrument works well, I can clearly see through it and it does focus, thereare someparticleson the glass. The image is upside down but I believe this is how it was made. The lacquered brass has somewear whichis to be expected with age and the eye piece has a slight dent. the boxis in nice clean condition, leather straps are all intact, lock does not have a key.
Please see the many pictures below for a visual condition.
There are two labels inside the box showing when this equipment was serviced.
If you need anymore information please ask.
