Gramophone Governor springs come in a bewildering range of sizes , they can be 30 mm to 65 mm long , 2.5 to 5mm wide and each size has many thicknesses !

It is important that if replacing one spring it matches as closely as possible to what is already there or speed fluctuations can result , this is particularly important on vertical governors , the wrong spring or springs will mean that an accurate 78rpm cannot be maintained

Vertical Governors have much thinner springs than horizontal ones and the thickness is also dependant on the weight of the weights !

We sell a selection of 6 , 8 or 12 springs on and these are great to have in the workshop anticipating problems

BUT they cannot be guaranteed to be useable on a particular gramophone

If you want a specific spring we need to know the exact length width and thickness to provide a replacement , if we can\'t find an exact match we can offer a matched set of three which can be used , if you know the exact machine eg an HMV 101 , 102 etc we can match these fairly well from old motors
