Rare 1968 Gibson \"Country Western\" aka SJN (Southern Jumbo Natural) Dreadnought Acoustic Guitar with Vintage Case
This guitar is in overall good, naturally aged condition- shows moderate use, not beat-up in the slightestIt plays very well and has just been totally overhauled and set-up with light strings by our in-house luthier with over 25 years experience.The guitar came to us with two repaired cracks in the spruce top which have been cleaned up (see close-up pictures- from bottom of guitar to soundhole, and from top of guitar next to the neck to the soundhole).Both cracks were simply the result of loose bracing that has been professionally restored in-house.The wood around the bridge-plate has lifted slightly as common with mid-to-late 60s Gibson spruce tops (see our 1967 SJN in another listing), but the bridge is still snug and the action of the guitar is fantastic. (see pictures embedded and below- side profile is below).The bridge is the original Adjustable (ADJ) wood saddle, belly-up style.The neck joint is still nice and snug to the body. (pictured)There are a few nicks in the finish- two on the back of the neck, three on the back, and one on the top by the bridge (see close-up pictures with quarter for scale)Action is set at medium-low and is smooth up and down the neck (pro set-up prior to listing)The frets appear original and have plenty of meat (see close-up pictures).There is very little playwear to the fretboard/inlays.The nut appears original as well and has been professionally cut in house (see close-up picture below).The only unoriginal aspect to the guitar is that 5 of the ferrules appear to be 70s Kluson replacements (pictured)The guitar has substantial natural micro-checking all over, especially on the sides with some yellowing of the clear-coat as well.All the hardware is original (bridge pins, truss rod cover, tuning machines, etc...)The case is a BRAND NEW hardshell case
