1956 York Hallmark Flugelhorn, .470 Bore, Bob Reeves 13F Mouthpiece, Double Case:
$500.00

Up for sale is a York Hallmark Flugelhorn. This is in good condition and plays well.Included is a Bob Reeves 13F Mouthpiece, in excellent condition.(I struggled to get a good picture of the mouthpiece, but it\'s in excellent conditionand does not have any chips or scratches on the rim.)Also included is the original hardshell 2 in 1 combo case, you can carry both a trumpet and a flugelhorn in this case.
Based on the serial no. of 200XXX, this was made in 1956.This was made in the USA.This is a .470 bore Flugelhorn with a 6\" bell. It\'s aprx. 18.75\" long and weighs 2 lbs. 9 oz.
This is a great playing flugelhorn with a big mellow sound. It takes a ton of air to play it well above the staff, because of the .470 bore.I\'ve barely ever played this in the 10 years I\'ve owned it, so i\'m selling it to finance other horns I will play more often. Valves are in great shape and move very fast. All the slides are free and can easily be moved. There is no throw ring for the 3rd valve slide, it did not come with one.I play on a .465 bore trumpet daily, but switching to this for the occasional gig is still a big challenge. It takes a lot of air to play this well because of the .470 bore size. Please keep this in mind when considering this flugelhorn.I would not recommend this for beginning or intermediate level trumpet players.
There are a number of cosmetic items that should be noted.I bought this from the Colorado Instrument Repair School about 10 years ago, through .They had removed some dents and resoldered several joints. This has numerous small scratches and some minor lacquer loss in spots. It was owned at some point in it\'s life by a high school, noted on the case. The school had inscribed a serial no. on the bell.At some point, someone used an engraving tool to partially cover up the \"York\" on the bell.It\'s still decipherable with a little staring. The hardshell case also had some red paint sprayed on it, probably by the original high schoolthat stenciled the case.
I have played trumpet for over 24 years, both semi-pro and professionally.Check my response and buy with confidence, I occasionally sell pro trumpets and trombonesand always get good response.
If you are looking for a big flugelhorn, this is a rare chance to get a tough to find horn.
This will be well packed for safe shipping.Shipping will be via UPS in the US.Thanks for looking!
