For your consideration is a beautifully restored 1956 RCA 7-HF-5 true high fidelity record player. This multi speed automatic record player came in three finishes,Limed Oak, Maple and Mahogany. This was called the New Orthophonic, as RCA was a leading manufacturer of high fidelity record players. The manufacturersdate code is 626 which means this exact player came off the U.S. assembly line on the 26th week of 1956.
The finish on this player is of the Mahogany variety. The cabinet has been carefully hand sanded, stained to the proper match, and has had 3 coats of polyurethane applied, and finally hand rubbed with bees wax and buffed out for added protection. The cabinet is in great shape, it is sturdy, and all hardware is present, as the lid lines up properly with the cabinet and the lid support locks into place properly, The metal script \'New Orthophinc High Fidelity is present as is the stamped brass emblem that located on the inside of the cabinet lid. The speaker fabric is all original and in great condition with no tears or fraying. You can really appreciate the workmanship that went into this player like a fine piece of furniture with that 50\'s retro look. This player can be used as either a tabletop model or by adding the included brass legs, it becomes a consolette. Trulyvery rich looking.
The mechanism was completely disassembled and all parts have been cleaned and polished, removing all old grease and oil. The motor was also taken apart and cleaned and properly lubes for quiet running operation. The player was then reassembled and adjusted to the manufacturers specifications. This automatic record change automatically drops records and after the last record plays it will shut itself off. The 4 speed changer runs correctly at all speeds 16,33, 45, & 78 rpm. It has been tested with a strobe light for proper speed. A brand new Pfansteihl cartridge with flip over stylus with a diamond chip for 45\'s 7& LP\'s and a Sapphire tip for 78\'s has been bridged for mono play has also been installed so you can play either mono or the newer micro groove stereo records alike. The tone arm gently drops precisely at the beginning of the record and picks up correctly at records end. A automatic 45 adapter is also included so you can stack your favorite 45\'s and enjoy.
The amplifier has been completely rebuit, changing all electrolytic capacitors as well as the wax paper capacitors. All resistor were tested for proper tolerance and replaced as needed. All tubes were tested and test like new. All tube sockets, volume, treble, and bass controls have been cleaned and treated with Doxit. This amplifier provides plenty of power to provide clear loud volume from the built in 6\" full range speaker that is complimented by the twin 4\" crossover tweeters. This is a great sounding record player that provides that warm, tube, room filling sound.
Please feel free to ask any questions and I will respond in a timely manner, as there are no returns or regrets, although your complete satisfaction is very important to me as I really enjoy working on these vintage players and bringing them back to life. The player is quite heavy and will be properly double boxed and padded to ensure its safe arrival to you, so shipping will be a bit pricey, sorry I have no control over that. If you are looking for a great everyday player then this might be the player for you.
